Both the defending champions Thiruvananthapuram Girls and Kottayam Boys retained the Basketball Title Finals here for the 35th Youth State Basketball Championship for Boys and Girls here at the New Indoor wooden Court of St. Pius X College, Rajapuram will be played on today (Thursday)
In the Girls final after a lead of 36-21 came on to beat Thrisur 71-23 for Thiruvananthapuram Krishna Priya was the leading scorer with 26 points followed by Haleema Jan scoring 16 for Thrissur Akshaya Philip was the leading scorer with 16 points for Thrissur.
In the boys final Kottayam beat Thrissur 73-57 after a lead of 33-21 at halftime for Kottayam Aaron Blessen was the leading scorer with 15 points was the top scorer and the Jr International Jerome Prince contributed with 13 for Thrissur Niyath ES came with 23
Bronze for Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur
Thiruvananthapuram Boys beat Ernakulam 52-30 while Kannur Girls beat Kozhikode 60-51 to take the Bronze title. Earlier on Late semi-final matches, Thrissur boys and girls entered the Finals as they beat Ernakulum 60-38 in boys and Kannur 57-29 in Girls
In Girls quarterfinal matches Thiruvananthapuram beat Kollam 18-5, Kozhikode got better Kottayam 55-51, Kannur beat Ernakulum 45-17 and Thrissur had an easy victory over host Kasargod 33-15
