COFORFUL START FOR THE LAURLEL SCHOOL INTERNATIONAL 44TH KERALA STATE SUB JUNIOR BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP IN ALAPUZHA

Laurel School International 44th Edition of Kerala State Sub Junior Basketball Championship for boys and Girls had a colorful start here at the Jyothinikethan Public School Flood lit Basketball Ground from organised by Alappuzha District Basketball Association under the aegis of Kerala Basketball Association.
The Championship was officially inaugurated by P Venugopal District Panchayath President Alappuzha
The championship which will mark as the prelude of the 44th Sub-Junior Nationals for Boys & Girls to be held at Didwana, District Nagaur, Rajasthan from 8th to 14th October 2017. Players to represent Kerala at the Senior Nationals will be selected on the basis of their performance in the State Championship.
Teams from all 14 districts of the state are vieing for the honors in Boys as well as in Girls. This 4 day Championshipwill features 54 matches from morning 6am and evening at 3 pm onwards are scheduled to be played on a league cum Knock out Basis on two Basketball Courts
In the Inaugural day in Boys host Alapuzha defeated reigning Champions Eranakulum 54-39 while Idukki beat Thiruvanthapuram 69-47, and inothermatches Pathanamthitta druibbed Kozhkode 58-18, Thrissur beat Kottayam 34-28, Kannur beat Malapuram 47-36, Wayanad scrape past Kasargod 36-34
In Girls division defending champions Trivandrum drubbed Alapuzha 29-1and agin in the evening beat Kannur 50-28 and in other league matches Kozhikode bt Kannur 40-23, Kottayam bt Kollam 30-21, Erankulum got better of Thrissur 40-21, Kasargod bt Palakkad 22-12Wayand defeated Malapuram 14-2
