ASIAN BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP INDIAN TEAM ANNOUNCED JEENA THE 2ND MALAYALEE TO LEAD INDIA IN ASIAN GAMES BASKETBALL

4 Malayalees In the Indian women Squad

Jeena P S from Kerala State Electricity Board will be the 2nd Malayalee and the 1st Malayalee from Kerala to lead an Indian team in Basketball for the ASIAN Games starting in Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 find their place in the final 12

Earlier Smruthy Radhakrishnan from Central Railway Mumbai had lead India in the 2014 Asian Game

This was the second Asian Games for Jeena earlier she represented India in the 17th Asian Games held at Incheon in Korea 2014.

Four Malayalees who have selected for the William Johns cup retained their place in the final 12 along with Jeena, Stephy Nixon, Anjana PG all from Kerala State Electricity Board and Palakkad born Priyanka Prabhakar from Karnataka

There is only one replacement in the team that toured Thailand for the William Johns cup last month Sanjana Ramesh from Karnataka is replaced with Nisha Sharma from Rajasthan

India is not sending their men’s contingent as well as for 3on3 format.

India is grouped in Group Y along with Korea, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan and Indonesia

India will play the first match which was against Kazakhstan on 17th August 2018
