Kerala Men and Women Move on to the Finals
Ludhiana, 13th May 2018: Kerala Women defeated Karnataka 68-66 while Men Stunned Punjab on their Home soil with an amazing 85-69 victory to move on to the finals of the 69th Junior National Basketball Championship for Men and Women at the Ludhiana Basketball Academy, Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana.
Kerala Women Now will take on the Winners of Tamil Nadu while men will face Rajasthan in the Final. It was indeed a nail-biting semi for Kerala They started off the first quarter leading 18-15 and ended the Interval with a 35-26 lead but lots of Miss passes in the third quarter saw Kerala ending up the final quarter with a one-point lead of 52-51 with the hooter sounding the end of the game Ann Maria was fouled with the score reading 66-66 she converted the two free throws she got and made Kerala in to the finals.
Sreekala was the Leading Scorer for Kerala with 35 points followed by Anu Maria scoring 12 and An Mary Zacharia with 11 Grishma was the top scorer for Karnataka with 18 points followed by Harshitha with15 and Sanjana Ramesh contributing 14.
In the men match which predicted on an upper hand for Punjab didn’t come true as Kerala the start to the 3rd quarter keeping on with the slender lead , the first quarter at 18-17 and winded the first half with 37-34 lead and at the end of the 3rd Quarter with 59-57 before winning the match with an amazing performance at 85-69.
For Kerala Shanzil Muhammed was the leading scorer with 25 points followed by NBA academy graduated Sejin Mathew with 20 points, Chacko C Simon with 18 and Muhammed Salih with 15 did a wonderful performance in the Semifinal to fetch them an entry to the final.
Earlier on Late quarter-finals yesterday Tamil Nadu women defeated Punjab 90-61 to make the final while in Men Punjab beat Karnataka 105-70 to meet Kerala.
