Indian Teams Fail in the Qualification Round
Sreekala Dazzle but Fail to qualify
Cyberjaya (FIBA 3×3 U18 Asia Cup 2017) – Indian Men and Women teams rather a Younger outfit averaging 16years fail to qualify for the Final round in the third edition of the FIBA 3×3 U18 Asia Cup, in the Malaysian city of Cyberjaya on 26-28 May.
Sixteen men’s teams and sixteen women’s teams will compete at the tournament –
The first edition of the FIBA 3×3 U18 Asia Cup was held in Bangkok, Thailand in 2013 and saw Philippines’ men and Chinese Taipei’s women win gold.
India women drubbed Turkmenistan 21-9 and Lost to Chinese Taipei 12-17.
Chinese Taipei scored 36 points from the two Matches while India scored 33 points from Two matches finished second in the Group 16-year-old Sreekala from Kerala was the leading Scorer for India as well as in the Group and 4th best Scorer in the qualifying round came up with 15 points followed by 15 years Vaishnavi Yadav from UP contributing 14 points. Indian Men lost both their matches Contributed 21 points from 2matches Lebanon beat Turkmenistan 18-17 to qualify Prasanth Tomar (Karnataka)8 points PrincepalSingh (Punjab) 6, Sejinmathew (Kerala) 4 Points
