Good Start for Kottayam Teams at the Youth Basketball Championship at Mannana

16th MAY 2017- 34th Kottayam Boys and Girls had an easy run today as the boys drubbed Tiruvanthapuram 44-17 while the girls had an easy victory over Palakkad with he score 36-4 here on the opening day of the 34th edition of the Kerala State Basketball Championship For Youth Boys and Girls 2017 here at the St Ephrems Basketball Flood Lit Indoor Stadium at Mannanam and at KE School Mannanam.

This 6 day Championship which will be the prelude to the 34th Youth National Basketball Championship for Boys and Girls to be held in Hyderabad from 1st to 8th July 2017, was inaugurated by Subash J Shenoy International Player at a meeting presided by Shri P J Sunny President Kerala Basketball Association.

In other matches in girls division Alapuzha drubbed Kollam 41-12 and Ernakulum had an easy victory over Pathanamthitta with a score of 29-9 and Thriuvanthapuram beat Kasargod 33-6

About the Championhip

The championship will feature 14 District teams in Boys Division and 13 in  Jr Girls Division which will be played on a league cum Knock out Format.  Top 3 teams from Pool A & Pool B, ONE each from Pool C & Pool D will qualify for the knock-out stage in Jr. Men category while Top 2 teams from each Pool in Jr. Women category.

Kottayam in Boys Division and Alalpuzha in Girls Division are the reigning champions
