Kottayam and Erankulum Starts off in fashion

Kochi 29th April 2017- Kottayam and Erankuum started off in fashion Kottayam drubbing Kannur 35-6 while Ernakulum rallying on with their Player from IMG Academy Joshua J George defeating Pathanamthitta 65-50 and Thiruvanthapurm got better of Alapuzha with a 67-57 victory here for the 41st Kerala State Basketball Championship For Junior Men & Women 2017 here at the Don Bosco School Flood it Basketball stadium in Vaduthala .

In other matches Kozhikode boys drubbed Palakkad 60-16 Malapuram beat wayanad 47-14,Pathanamthitta beat Thrissur 63-52

In Jr women Kozhikode drubbed Wayanad 37-8,Thrissur beat Ernakulum66-15 and Idukki got better of Wayanad 39-4.

Earlier In the Morning in boys Kozhikode had an easy victory over Kollam 35-12, and Wayanad beat Kasargod39-30
In Girls Thiruvanathapuram drubbed Malapuaram 55-19 and Kannur beatPalakkad 48-16.

This 6 day Championship which will be the prelude to the Junior National Basketball Championship to be held in Goutham Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh from 3rd to 11th June 2017 The State team to Participate in the National Championship will be selected from this Championship.

The championship will feature 14 District teams in Jr Men Division and 12 in Jr Women Division which will be played on a league cum Knock out Format. Top 3 teams from Pool A & Pool B, ONE each from Pool C & Pool D will qualify for the knock-out stage in Jr. Men category while Top 2 teams from each Pool in Jr. Women category.

Kottayam in Jr Men Division and Kozhikode in Junior Women Division are the reigning champions
