MIXED FORTUNE FOR KERALA

Mysuru, 11th January 2016: It was a mixed fortune for Kerala on the third day as their women after the opening day win against the defending champions Chhattisgarh, registered another easy victory over a young and inexperienced Madhya Pradesh side with the score 57-31. JeenaScaria, one of India’s best players, shown her class today with 16 points followed by Stephy Nixon making 12 points. but the men went down to favorite tall and Mighty Tamil Nadu with the score of 46-73 after giving a fight only in the first quarter here for the 66th Senior National Basketball Championship for men and women here at Chamundi Indoor Stadium in Mysuru. The Chhattisgarh women also achieved back-to-back victories overwhelming Maharashtra by with a 27-point, the men’s home team registered their first victory of the tournament in dominant fashion against Haryana. Racing off to an early lead, Karnataka maintained a double-digit distance from Haryana throughout the game and ended up with a 92-73 victory. Centre AravindArumugam top scored with 33 points for the home team.

In the level 2 games in the men’s section, Gujarat went head to head against Maharashtra with both teams contending for a spot in the pre quarter-finals. Gujarat’s international guard VinayKaushikstarred in his team’s victory in an evenly matched game. KashiRajan, Gujarat’s point guard, also contributed majorly with 28 points, on 100% shooting from behind the arc. The Chandigarh men also made their push towards the pre-quarterfinals with an 88-59 victory against Puducherry. In the women’s level 2 section, West Bengal defeated Bihar by a massive 43 points while Rajasthan picked up an easy victory against Chandigarh.
