FEDERATION CUP TITLE FOR ONGC. CHHATTISGARH

Coimbatore 25 March 2017- ONGC Dehradun Scrape past IOB Chennai 55-53 while Chhattisgarh avenged its defeat had from Southern Railway in the league phase defeated them with the score 77-67 to claim the 31st Federation Cup Basketball Title here at PSG tech Indoor Sports Complex, Coimbatore on Sunday

The trophies and Medals were distributed by Aadav Arjuna Chairman Organising Committee The winners receive INR 1 lac as Prizemony while the runner-up with INR 50,000 and Third place received INR25,000

Vishesh Brighuvanshi from ONGC and Poonam Chathurvedi from Chhattisgarh were adjusted as the Most Valuable Player ward

Earlier in the morning for 3rd Position match, Indian Airforce which lost to ASC in the League phase defeated them with the score 85-79
Similarly, in Women division, Tamil Nadu which defeated West Bengal in the league phase had to bow out to West Bengal with the score 81-52

In the Semi finals, Men ONGC had an easy victory over Indian Air force with the score 72-9 while IOB beat ASC 84-64 to reach Final.

In the women, Semi Final Matches 6 ft 11 inches Poonam Chaturvedi made the winning Basket in the final seconds to put Chhattisgarh a99-98 victory while Southern railway defeated Tamil Nadu 73-67 to mark the final

Earlier in league phase Kerala handicapped by Internationals Jeena, semi finalStephy and Poojamol went down to beat Tamil Nadu 73-61 but fail to qualified-final Kerala was unlucky a one more point would have to make Kerala through to the semi-final.

Earlier Kerala lost to west Bengal with margin of 21 points ( 55-76) and Tamil Nadu had in the first day beaten West Bengal by a margin of 5points which resulted in making triple tie between the three teams and better goal difference West Bengal topped the pool and Tamil Nadu came second and Kerala 3rd earlier and from Group BSouthern railway and Chhattisgarh mad the Semi Final

Customs and Central Excise made the exit as they lost their second match to ASC Bangalore 46-73 here on the third day of the on the second day .earlir beaten by Indian Ar Force

The only bright patch for Customs was their only victory against Ludhiana Basketball Academy 78-77, In a dramatical recovery in the second half with as much as 18 three-pointers scored by customs to make this thrilling Victory

The match which Customs started badly and trailed 17-24 in the first quarter and increased the deficit to 25-39 aby the end of first half and reduced its lead over to eight points at the end of 3rd quarter.with 2 minutes to go for the final Punjab draw a foul and 2 free throws while customs which lead 78-77 at the juncture lucky for customs they missed two free throws and the rebound they recovered for Customs Manoj R (8 three-pointers) was the top scorer for Customs with 30 points and Nikhil KR with 23 Points(4 three Pointers) and Jishnu Nar and Abhilash TS making 12 points each for this sweet victory
