CALICUT RETAINED THE ALL INDIA UNIVERSITY BASKETBALL

Tiruvalla 29th December 2016: Defending Champions Calicut University defeated Hindustan University Chennai 70-59 to retained the tile of the All India Inter University Basketball for Women here at KIIT Bhuvaneswar in Orissa.
M G University took the Bronze as they beat Kannur 66-41
The final was an avenge for Calicut as they lost to Hindustan last month in the South zone qualifier at Calicut . the Final match were Calicut lead 32-20 at half time was lead by ever constituent from Koratty Aswathy S Thampi who lead the scoring chart with 22 points followed by tall younger International another from koratty Nimmy George with 16 points and was well controlled by Athulya N who also contributed 15 points for the victory. The team was coached by PC Antony former coach of Kerala state sports Council who also had his International experience as a coach and was assisted by another coach from the state sports council Siji Jose and managed by Thushara from St josephs College Irinjalakuda
Earlier In the Semi final Calicut had an easy win over Kannur University with the score 68-26 and M G University after trailing26-50 went down to Hindustan University Chennai 65-70 to make the final
In the Quarter final matches Calicut defeated LNIPE Gwalior 64-45, Kannur beat Punjabi University 55-41, Hindustan University beat Nagpur University 67-43 and lastly M G University Uthkal University 41-23.
