The Stage is all set for the 61st Kerala State Basketball Championship which will be organized by the Kerala BasketballAssociation under the auspices of Malappuram District Basketball Association at the Govt Boys Higher Secondary School floodlit basketball Stadium, Manjeri. from today 22nd to 27th November 2016 It will mark as the prelude of the Senior National Basketball Championship, slated to be held in Pondicherry in January Players to represent Kerala at the Senior Nationals will be selected on the basis of their performance in the State Championship.

Teams from 14 districts from the state will vie for the honors in Men section, while 12 Districts will battle it out for the Women’s title. This 6 days Championship will feature 47 matches from morning 6am and evening at 3 pm onwards are scheduled to be played on a league cum Knockout Basis

A ‘Referee’s Clinic’ and Test will be set up to familiarize the players with the newly implemented laws for the championship. International Referee Fr. Philips Vadakeekalam, Chairman of Technical Commission (Kerala), will lead the clinic .

In Women, Section favorites will be Trivandrum International Players Jeena PS ,Stephy Nixon, Annjamm PG while in Men Basil Philip
