The Kerala basketball scene was rocked on Thursday as Kerala forward/center and former State Captain  T Chandrasekaran Nair  passed away due to a massive cardiac arrest while in his office at the Kerala University .He w as the asset combatant with Kerala Police and now serving as the chief security officer with Kerala University .

He was  survived by his mother Susheela , Wife Dr. Sree Latha and Two daughters Arathy(MBA student) Aiswarya (+2) and his brother Shaji TS also a former State player

As the news of his demise broke, his fellow players took it to social media to pay tribute to the hardnosed defender.

Those who consoles includes Arjuna Awardee Geethu Ana Rahul, International Muhammed Iqbal, Jayasankar, Prasanna Jayasankar, International Commissioner Naresh Aneeja   and the people from States Gulf.

He started his Playing days in university college before joining in 1983-84 with Mar Ivanios college and was able to bring the college the University champions later .Chandran was always tough on the Court and to me, I saw him never missing a practise session and was rare missing the practise sessions giving sick. He was a small Post player than others  but he was tough and know how to force the way for a basket and guard them but off the court, he was so friendly and also a regular member at India coffee House Thiruvananthapuram

The remarkable day was in 1991in Trivandrum Senior Nationals as he helped Kerala Senior Men team the first ever Bronze Medal in the senior level  along with C V Sunny and C Suresh the rare for a Senior team at that  period.

After Joining Kerala Police in 1985  he represented the state continuously for 8 years till 1993. He captained the Kerala State Senior Team 1989 at Jamshedpur and also the State  Police and  was  instrumental in making  Kerala police the  Federation Cup champions in 1990 as well as in 1993  .

He also served Thiruvananthapuram District Basketball Association as Secretary in which a Sub Junior National Championship was also conducted at Thiruvananthapuram .

Those who pays homage at home Includes K Muraleedharan MLA, D Vijakumar   Vincent M Paul IPS , State Information officer.Dr. P. K Rada Krishan Vice Chancellor Kerala University, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Veeramanikkam.

When the body was taken to SAP DGP Sen Kumar IPS, Anil Kanth IPS, Suresh raj purohit IPS, city Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham IPS  etc paid their homage .

The Basketball fraternity  includes  Dr MM Chacko senior vice President Kerala  Basketball Association  and Internationals Muhammed Iqbal, C V Sunny, Sathish Kumar, Unvin J Antony, V V Harilal, Sijimon Kareethra. Johnny Augustine and the seniors Jose Joseph Thomas Varghese, Jose Kurian,  etc and an array of  fellow International from Kerala Police football, Athletics , Swimming and Volleyball.

The body was cremated at Santhi Kavadaom in Thriuvanthapuram with complete State honors.
