FIBA ASIA CHALLENGE 2016- INDIA RUN JAPAN CLOSE IN FIRST 5-8 CLASSIFICATION GAME; TO FACE TAIPEI TOM

17th September 2016: India went down fighting against Asian heavyweights Japan 66-77 in the first of its 5-8 classification games at the FIBA Asia Challenge 2016., Azadi Sports Complex in Tehran, Iran.
India shot poorly at the start and ended up 8 points behind Japan in the first quarter after that India did well in almost matching Japan in three-quarters and even able to take a 3 point lead . Now India will have to look to end its FIBA Asia Challenge 2016 on a good note with a final 7-8 classification against Chinese Taipei tomorrow at 3 pm. For India . Amritpal end with yet another double of 22 points and 14 rebounds, with Amjyot pitching in with 18. For every run that India made though, Japan proved equal to the task to secure the 11 point win. American Professional Iea Brown was the top scorer for Japan with 20 points Japan now faces China in the 5-6 classification match tomorrow.
In the semi-final matches defending champions Iran defeated Jordan, to take on Korea who win an evenly contested match beat Iraq 78-72 , Iraq a team that had stunned China in the quarterfinals to make the finals
