SHIRAS & GINEEB FOR U-18 ASIAN BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Mohammed Shiraz from St Ephrem’s HSS Mananam, Gineeb Benny from Little Flower HSS Koratty will play for India at the U18 Men Basketball team for the 24th FIBA Asia U 18 Championship for Jr Men to be held in Tehran, Iran from 22-31 July 2016 Shiraz is representing India for the second time earlier he represented India in the U16 division at Jakarta.
The twelve (12) participating teams will be divided into two (2) groups, India is placed in Group A along with China, Chinese Taipei, Philippines, India, Iraq, Thailand. Four teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-final. India will play their first match against Thailand on 22nd July 2016.
The 24th FIBA Asia U18 Championship is the qualifying event for the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championship were the top three teams will represent Asia.
China is the three-time defending champions, having beaten Iran in the final of the 23rd edition of the event in Doha (Qatar) two years ago.
