Kasargod 18th April 2016 :- Thrissur defeated Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode beat Kannur and march on to the final of the 40th edition of the Kerala Junior State Basketball Championship for Junior Men and Junior Women which was organised by Kasargod District Basketball Association under the auspicious of Kerala Basketball Association here at the Newly Built Pilicode Panchayath Maidan in Kalikadavu, Kasargod ..
On Monday 1st Semifinal in women Thrissur jr Women beat Thiruvananthapuram 49-21 after leading 27-8 at the half time for Thrissur Aparna Sadasivan was the top scorer with 14 points and for Thruvanthapuram sreekala contributed 9 points they now will take on the winners of Kozhikode and Kannur in the final. In the Second Semifinal, favorites Kozhikode who had an25-4 lead in the first half came on to beat Kannur with the score 44-21 with Aswathy Jayasankar leading the score tally with 19 points.
Earlier in the morning quarterfinal matches in Jr women section Kannur in an evenly contested match defeated Kottayam 53-47 while favorites Kozhikode and Thrissur had an easy victory over Kollam and Idukki with score 46-13 & 46-4 and last quarter-final in women Thiruvananthapuram beat Alapuzha 47-24 to reach the semi-final. In boys quarter, final match favorites Kottayam men had no difficulty in beating Kannur 52-13 while Thrissur beat Pathanmthtta 56-37 and Ernakulum defeated Alapuzha 58-33 and Thiruvananthapuram scrape past Idukki 69-60 to reach the Semi Final
