COLOURFUL TART FOR THE STATE SUB JUNIOR BASKETBALL AT TIRUVALLA

It was a colourful start here for 43rd Kerala State Sub-Junior Basketball Championships For Boys & Girls 2016 here at Christ Central School Flood Lit F ground Thiruvalla. as Sanjayan Kumar IFS, Director Sports & Youth affairs will Inaugurated the Championship after a Colourful March past by the Participants followed by Chairman of the organising committee Dr Sriram Vankataraan IAS introduced the chief guest Fr Thomas Mayaparambil welcomed the guests and Philip Zacharia secretary PDBA rendered the Vote of thanks. K V Varghese Chairman Tiruvalla Municipality was introduced to the players of the opening match.

 

 

 

This Five day Championship was organised by the Christ Central School, Thiruvalla in association with Pathanamthitta District Basketball Association under the auspicious of Kerala basketball Association. The teams are divided into Four Groups and will be played on a league cum Knockout Basis 13 Districts in Boys and 12 in Girls will be participating in this Championship The state Team to participate in the National sub Junior Championship to be held in Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium Hyderabad from October 1 to 7 will be selected from this Championship. Kottayam in boys section and Kozhikode in Girls Division at are the reigning Champions, Two teams from each pool will qualify for the Knockout stage.

In the opening match Ernakulam boys defeated host Pathanamthittaa 36-19 t wit Thomas Zechariah top scoring for Ernakulam with 10 points while in other boys matches Kozhikode beat Kollam (45-22),Alapuzha beat Palakkad (47-18) Idukki beat Kasargod (47-20) and again drubbed Palakkad (40-2) while in Girls. Thrissur head a good start as they drubbed Pathanmthtta (45-22), Alappuzha beat Malaouram(30-8), Kannur got better of Palakkad(25-9) and Kollam drubbed Kasargod (26-3).
