TAMIL NADU AND MAHARASHTRA GIRLS AND PUNJAB AND MIZORAM BOYS IN TO THE FINALE OF 46TH SUB JUNIOR NATIONAL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

46th Sub Junior National Basketball Championship for Boys and Girls from  3rd  to 9th 2019 September

Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra Girls and Punjab and Mizoram Boys in to the Finale

Cuttack , 8th September  2019:  Maharashtra Girls will meet Tamil Nadu while Punjab boys will take on Mizoram in the finals of the 46th Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship taking place, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium & Indoor Complex  Barabati Stadium Cuttack.

After the classification games today morning, Semi-final began with post lunch. Maharashtra girls after a lead of 37-24 at  the half time came on to beat Delhi 72-64, Sameeksha Chandak top scored for Maharashtra with 19 pts and for Delhi bulk of the scoring was done by their captain Reha Singh scoring 25 points.

In the Second Semi final in girls favourites Tamil Nadu has to find a double extra period to beat Karnataka with score 81-78 defeated Tamil Nadu which lead 32-23 at the Interval ended the 3rd quarter with a 42-35 lead but the fourth quarter saw Lavanya Sharma combining with Captain Yashaswini tp level the score at 60-60 and the first extra time ended with 71-71 the last quarter where Lavanya and Yashaswini sitting on the bench committing five fouls and Tamil Nadu had the last laugh winning the match at 81-78 Tamil Nadu Antheya daisy Played the captain role contributing 33 points for the victory  for  Karnataka Mridaya Sood was the top scorer with 16 points

In the boys Semi final Punjab  overcome  Haryana 61-53 and will face the winners of Mizoram and Maharashtra in final.

The 1st Semi final in Boys started with Haryana leading 18-7 in the first Quarter and finished the first half with just 2 points lead 25-23 Punjab took control in the 3rd Quarter leading 41-39 and finished the game with 61-53 for Punjab Rupansh Garg was the top scorer with 18 points.

In the second Semi Final crowds favourites crafty Mizoram had no difficulty in beating Maharashtra (91-65) after leading 42-27 at the Interval  Johan was the leading scorer with 20 points.

Kerala Girls Finished 5th

Kerala Girls completed the Championship finishing 5th as they beat Punjab with the score 43-25 with Tiona Anna Philip top scoring with 12 points captain maria Louis with 9 points.

Late last evening at the 46th Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship, the Mizoram boys which thrilled the crowd with their Speedy Classy basketball when they beat the favourites Rajasthan with the score  87-78 to make the semi Final line up with Maharashtra with for Mizoram lalliianmawia top scoring with 21 points and Jihan with 18.

In another quarter final match Haryana defeated Madhya Pradesh  80-62 to make the semi Final clash with Punjab.

The loser knockout finals also took place today morning West Bengal winning the boys’ category defeating Kerala 65-48.
