PRINCEPAL SINGH BECOMES FIRST NBA ACADEMY GRADUATE TO SIGN WITH NBA G LEAGUE

NEW YORK and MUMBAI July 28, 2020 : NBA Academy graduate Princepal Singh, a 6-10 forward from Punjab, India, has signed to play in the NBA G League next season, it was announced today by NBA G League President ShareefAbdur-Rahim.  Singh, who will train and compete alongside the new G League team featuring elite youth prospects,He  is the first NBA Academy graduate to sign with the NBA G League and first NBA Academy India graduate to sign a professional contract. Rahim also added that they are also thrilled to be able to offer Princepal the opportunity to begin his professional basketball journey in the NBA G League

 The 19-year-old became the fourth Indian hoopster drafted by the National Basketball Association (NBA) for their G-League.
Earlier, Satnam Singh, Palpreet Singh Brar and Amjyot Singh Gill were drafted in the NBA’s G-League. While Satnam in 2016-17 and Amjyot in 2019 played for respective G-League teams, Palpreet remained unpicked after he was drafted in 2016.  So  Princepal will be the third Indian hoopster to play in the G-League. He will represent the 21-member NBA-Select team.

Princepal Singh – son of an electrician in Gurdaspur,   started his carrier from  Ludhiana Basketball Academy, before joining NBA Academy India in 2017, an elite basketball training center in Delhi National Capital Region (NCR).  In November 2018, Singh transitioned to The NBA Global Academy – the league’s hub for top male and female prospects from outside the U.S. – in Canberra, Australia, where he continued his development before graduating this spring.
