VISHESH BHRIGUVANSHI RECEIVED ARJUNA AWARD 2020

President Ram Nath Kovind virtually presented the prestigious Arjuna Award to Vishesh Bhrighuvanshi  for his  outstanding performance in Basketball  along with other athletes.

 

The winners of National Sports Awards were connected virtually to President Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan from 9 different Sports Authority of India-designated locations

Arjuna Award is given for consistent outstanding performance for four years

The-29 year-old Bhriguvanshi who hails from Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi and has been playing for India since 2007. He was first awarded the captainship of the Indian team in 2010. During his career of over 15 years now, he has represented India at various Championships

In 2017 Bhriguvanshi became the first Indian to be signed by Australia's National Basketball League (NBL). He was set to train with the Adelaide 36ers, however, fate had different plans as the forward sustained a knee injury and to be back

I first See his great performance at the four-day Basketball Without Borders camp in New Delhi at the American School, where   he was chosen as the Most Valuable Player  and currently his sincere attitude playing for ONGC at the FEASTO All India Tournament  in Kozhikode Kerala  February 2020
 

The basketball without Borders was an  under-19 camp,  was the  first ever occasion of the successful joint FIBA-NBA program that took place in India on 6th July 2008 the camp counted with the participation of 50 budding basketball players from 15 countries.

The program in the Indian capital coincided also with the visit of FIBA President Bob Elphinston and FIBA Secretary General and IOC member late Patrick Baumann


Visheh got his first chance to represent the nation,  at the youth level, in 2006 during the FIBA U18 Asian Championship later during his career of over 15 years now, he has represented India at various championships -- Asian Games (2), Asian Championships (5), Beach Asian Games (3), Indoor Asian Games (2), South Asian Games (2) and South Asian Championships (7).
