TRIBUTE TO GEORGE ZACHARIA CHEERAN

19th  dec 2020 ;- It is with profound grief Kerala Basketball Association would like to inform you the sad demise of the patron a, former Standing committee  Member of Kerala State Sports Council and former Kunnamkulam Municipal Standing Committee chairman ,George Zachariah Cheeran  passed away at his residence in Kunnamkulam today at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth George ; daughter Anna George (BAM Eng Medium School Pamapady) ; sons,Dr  Sanail T Cheeran (retd Dist officer Animal Husbandry)  and Sudheer G  Cheeran (catholic Syrian Bank) his wife Rani ; and   nephew Renjini Abraham Mathen Kottarathil (Southern railway)

 A highly accomplished leader and an ardent servant of the game, he had contributed immensely to the promotion of basketball in Kerala He was the first captain of Sree Kerala Varma College Thrissur and decorated many key portfolios in Kerala Basketball including Patron of KBA, KBA Nominee to KSSC, Competition in charge - National Games Basketball @ Trissur 1988, Chairman-Selection Committee of KBA and Secretary of Trichur DBA- marthoma Sabha Council Member ,MTS School Manager to list a few. His dedicated services to the game and watchful guidance always rendered strength to the activities of KBA over the years. Instrumental in All India Tornaments in Thrissur and Kunnamkulam

 

 Basketball fraternity expresses its deepest condolence to the sorrowing family and joins in their prayers for the departed soul. The funeral services will be held on 21st December 2020, Monday, 12.00 noon @ Arthat Marthoma Church, Kunnamkulam.
