Basketball League Kerala (BLK) Announces Selection Trials for ‘One Minute to Hoop’ Standouts; Franchises Set to Scout Top Talent - Selection today at Devagiri Kozhikode , and Auction on May 17th at Kochi
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM – Taking a definitive step toward professionalizing the sport’s talent pathway, the Basketball League Kerala (BLK) has officially announced the Selection Trials for players shortlisted from the groundbreaking “One Minute to Hoop” (OMH) Skill Challenge.
The OMH initiative—conceptualized by Starting Five Sports Management Pvt Ltd in association with the Kerala Basketball Association (KBA) and ABC Basketball Development League Pvt Ltd—is Kerala’s first-of-its-kind, data-driven talent identification program.
Following an overwhelming response of 1,150 registrations from across the state, 615 participants have been shortlisted for the final selection round. These athletes will compete across Under-14 (Boys & Girls) and Under-19 (Boys & Girls) categories to secure their spot in the upcoming league.
Selection Trials Schedule:
May 1st: Devagiri College, Calicut
May 2nd: RSC Kochi, Ernakulam
May 3rd: University Senate Hall Court, Trivandrum
The shortlisted athletes were selected through a rigorous one-minute evaluation format that assessed core competencies in Shooting, Dribbling, and Defense. The trials will feature diverse representation from districts across Kerala, ensuring an inclusive search for the state’s next basketball stars.
