Senior National Basketball Title for Punjab men, Railways women

Bronze for Kerala women and Tamil Nadu Men

Bhavnagar: Punjab and Indian Railways emerged triumphant in the men’s and on women’s sections in the 69th Senior National Basketball Championship for men and women here at Bhavnagar Gujarat.

The Punjab men beat Services 74-65 in a well-contested final with Arshpreet Sing leading the way with 24 points.
Punjab had beaten Tamil Nadu team 70-66 in the semifinal.

In the women’s final, Railways outplayed Tamil Nadu, winning 88-71 to regain the title.
After a close 1st half leading only 42-40, the Railways looked in control as they kept scoring regularly.

For Railways, Rajapriya Dharshi with 23 points was the top scorer followed by Navaneetha with 16 points while S Sathtya (21 points) lead the scoring for Tamil Nadu.

Honourable Governor of Karnataka Shri Vajubhai Vala presided over the valedictory l and gave away the prizes to the players.

Bronze for Kerala Women and Tamil Nadu Men

Kerala women retained their bronze medal as they beat Chhattisgarh 79-73 while Tamil Nadu men defeated Karnataka (84-69) to claim the Bronze medal

For the 5th and 6th Position match in women, Telangana beat Karnataka (54-42) and in Men (Utharkhand scrape past Rajasthan(54-53)

Indian railways men finished with 6th Spot defeating Haryana(74-65) while Punjab women grabbed the 6th Spot with their victory over Delhi (37-22)
