Services Men to meet Punjab in Final
Tamil Nadu Women to meet Indian Railways

Tamil Nadu women beat Kerala (65-49) and will meet reigning champion Indian railways who defeated Chhattisgarh (96-55) while in Men in an extra time thriller Punjab overcome Tamil Nadu 70-66 to meet last Year runner up services who defeated Karnataka (81-75) here for the 69th National Basketball Championship for Men and Women -in Bhavnagar, Gujarat.

The game of the day was the second semi-final in men between Tamil Nadu and Punjab though Tamil Nadu which kept the lead almost 24 minutes in the game it could not help them to beat Punjab in the overtime as jagdeep singh played the captains role as he scores 5 points out of the 9 points that scored in the overtime to put Punjab the champions with the score 70-66.

The game started with Tamil Nadu leading 16-14 in the first quarter and 1st half ended with the lead changing over to Punajb 32-28 it was a match where lead changes over 12 times and was tied up10 times. Then the third quarter ending up with 48-48 and the final whistle with 61-61 which causes an extra 5 minutes overtime.

The Punjab scoring dominated with Amrithpal singh with 33 points and 19 points were scored by Hariram for Tamil Nadu.

The Men first Semi final where last year runner up Services dominated the first two quarters and was leading 42-26 at the half time but Karnataka bounces back in the 3rd and fourth quarter through Aravind and Hareesh and reducing its lead but that was not enough to beat Services.

Nikhil kumar was the leading scorer for Services with 22 points followed by experienced Mahipal Singh and Joginder sing contributing 21 and 16 points respectively. For Karnataka Aravind scored 21 and haressh 17.

In women Semifinal the youthful Tamil Nadu used more than 22 fast breaks in a game to stun the much experienced Kerala

Tamil Nadu lead 33-30 at the half time but a couple of 3pointers from Dharshini and some fine under baskets from Pushpa made them to increase their lead over Kerala in the third quarter with 59-43

The last quarter was a low scoring evenly poised one for both, Pushpa was the leading scorer for Tamil Nadu with 21 points followed by sathya with 14 for Kerala Jeena came as the top scorer with 23 points

The second women semi-final reigning champion Indian railways using their speed had no difficulty in beating Chhattisgarh as they lead comfortably at the half time with the score of 61-35 with Madhu Kumari, Sruti Aravind and Bhandhavya contributing 22,19,17 points respectively for Chhattisgarh 6 ft 9 inches Poonam did the bulk of scoring with 34 points
