Defending Champions Confirm Quarter Final berth

Bhav Nagar Gijaarth – 8th Jan 2019 – Defending Champions Indian railways in women and Tamil Nadu in Men confirmed the Quarter final berth along with Punjab, and Utharkhand unbeaten in their group along with Services, Indian railways and Karnataka in men while in women ,Kerala ,Karnataka,Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and Telengana here on the 4th day of the 69th National Basketball Championship for Men and Women –in Bhavnagar, Gujarat

Today Kerala women made their 3rd successive victory in women division B as they scrape past last year runner up Chhattissgarh 65-64 in a . gam e that the lead changing 7 times and tied up 7 . Chhattisgargh started the first quarter taking the biggest lead in the match of 15-8 and ending up the first quarter with 17-10 lead . Kerala then slowly catch up the momentum to level the score at 23-23 at the mid of 2nd quarter and ended up the 1st half leading 35-32 and made the 3rd quarter with 52-48 lead. The last quarter saw Chhattisgarh coming back in to the game through 6ft 9 inches poonam Chathurvedi and took the lead again 58-55 before losing the match to Kerala 64-65 .For Kerala Jeena and Stephy Nixon top scored with 15 points each Anjanna came up with 13 and Poojamol contributing 10 for Chhattisgarh Poonam was the leading scorer with 24 points Seema Sing with 14 and Akansha Singh and Deepa scoring 10 points each

In Men division after a loss from Karnataka defending champion Tamil Nadu finds his rhythm back to beat Rajasthan 111-79 to make their second straight victory in the Group A while Karnataka beat Gujarat 87-69 for their third victory and services defeated Indian railways (97-74)
