THREE FROM KERALA FOR THE FIBA ASIA U18 INDIAN TEAM

Anu Maria from Assumption College Changancherry, Sreekala R from Mar Ivanios College Thiruvananthapuram and Ann Mary Zacharia from Mount Carmel HSS Kottayam were selected to represent India at the FIBA U18 Women Asian Championship M C Thankachan from Chandanakampara will also be in the Squad as Asst Coach No1. The FIBA U18 Asian Women’s Championship 2018 is set to tip off in Bengaluru, India on 28th October and will conclude on 3rd November
The team will be coached by Serbian coach Zoran Visic. There are sixteen (16) teams split into two Divisions, A & B. Each Divison has eight teams who are equally distributed into groups of two. The teams have been paired on the basis of their current FIBA World Ranking Youth Women in Asia & Oceania.
The Top Four teams from Division A will qualify for the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2019, while the winner of Divison B will earn promotion to Division A for the next edition of FIBA U18 Women’s Asian Championship.
India is in Division B and will play their first match against Iran on 28th Nov 2018

  1. Group A: India, Singapore, Guam, and Iran
  2. Group B: Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Syria and Samoa

Division A Groupings

  1. Group A: Australia, Korea, Chinese Taipei and Indonesia
  2. Group B: China, Japan, New Zealand and Malaysia
