INTERNATIONAL HOOPATHON SERIES AUSTRALIA WRAP UP WITH 4-1

Ringwood Hawks, Melbourne Australia beat Kerala Women All-Star Team 68-62 on the final Test match which is one of the closest matches played at the International Hoopathon Series 2017 at the VK N Menon Indoor Stadium Kozhikode and wrap U[p with a 4-1

Cassidy Mihalko made all difference top scoring with 31 points for the victory Kerala which played a much more determined game leading the first quarter 19-18 but Australia through slowly took up control and ended up the first half with a slender 26-24

But third quarter saw again Kerala coming back into the game le50—46 but Cassidy rose on to the occasion scoring 13 points in the last 4 minutes to out Australian Hawks victorious 68-62 forKerla KSEB trio duo Jeena PS , Shiliji and Grima contributed 27,14,11 points. The series gave Kerala a much, much International experience

About Hoopathon Series

Team Rebound (a registered NGO of ex-Basketball players) & the Kerala Basketball Association will be organizing an International Hoopathon Series 2017 which would include a 5 Match Series between the current National Champions Kerala Women All-Star Team & the BIGV Australian League Club Team Ringwood Hawks, Melbourne at 5 cities in Kerala. The Basketball Federation of India & Basketball Australia is extending full support along with Kerala State Sports Council as well as Directorate of Sports for this event.

This series is a follow-up activity involving more school children including those who were part of the Kerala Hoopathon which was launched on Dec 21st, 2016 during the occasion of the 125th Birthday of Basketball as an initiative of Team Rebound to generate interest amongst the public to support the game of Basketball. As part of version1 of the Kerala Hoopathon, around 12,500 young first-time basketball players from 125 schools across 14 Districts surpassed the target of scoring 1,25,000 points simultaneously within 1 hour and achieved a score of 1,59,652 points. The Kerala Hoopathon was well received by children across all sectors of schools and received tremendous media support as part of an innovative campaign on the 125th Jubilee occasion with the active involvement of the Kerala Basketball Association & various supporting partners.
