KERALA MOVE ON TO THIRUVANTHUARAM TO HOOPATHON SERIES WITH AN VICTORY

Kerala Women All-Star Team, at last, overcome Ringwood Hawks, Melbourne Australia with a 64-55 on the 3rd Test match of the International Hoopathon Series 2017 at the Sports Council Indoor Stadium Kottayam the first match in the Stadium after the Inaugurating two years back
The team after playing on jam-packed stadium in Kottayam will now move on to Thiruvananthapuram stadium were they will play the fourth one at Jimmy George Indoor Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram of the Five Test match series

Kerala put up a much better performance even though started the Game trailing 10-14 in the first quarter but came back strongly and ended the halftime with 28-25 lead and ended third also leading 48-42
Anjana PG was the leading scorer for Kerala with 16 points well supported by Grima Merlin and captain Jeena contributing 15 points each and guest Shireen Limaye scoring11

About Hoopathon Series
a) Team Rebound (a registered NGO of ex-Basketball players) & the Kerala Basketball Association will be organizing an International Hoopathon Series 2017 which would include a 5 Match Series between the current National Champions Kerala Women All Star Team & the BIGV Australian League Club Team Ringwood Hawks, Melbourne at 5 cities in Kerala. The Basketball Federation of India & Basketball Australia is extending full support along with Kerala State Sports Council as well as Directorate of Sports for this event.

b) This series is a follow-up activity involving more school children including those who were part of the Kerala Hoopathon which was launched on Dec 21st, 2016 during the occasion of the 125th Birthday of Basketball as an initiative of Team Rebound to generate interest amongst the public to support the game of Basketball. As part of version1 of the Kerala Hoopathon, around 12,500 young first-time basketball players dhaneshettumanoor@gmail.comfrom 125 schools across 14 Districts surpassed the target of scoring 1,25,000 points simultaneously within 1 hour and achieved a score of 1,59,652 points. The Kerala Hoopathon was well received by children across all sectors of schools and received tremendous media support as part of an innovative campaign on the 125th Jubilee occasion with the active involvement of the Kerala Basketball Association & various supporting partners.
