The Ringwood Hawks today announced its team to tour India to play 5 games as part of the “International Hoopathon Series 2017” from 5th Nov to 12th Nov across 5 cities in Kerala.

The team will be captained by Danielle Bone and includes Neehara Ravikumar, Inez Lie, Piper Goldie, Natasha Tropeano, Amanda Meinking, Kate Spillane, Cassidy Mihalko, Abbey Lloyd & Hannah Fimmel apart from Sue Egan(Team manager) Tim Mottin (Head Coach), Peter Hynson (Assistant Coach) Ben Draper (Assistant Coach)

The Ringwood Hawks currently plays in the BigV Women’s League of Australia from Melbourne, Victoria with the tallest player being Amanda MeinKing ( 6’4” tall) who had played for U17 Australian Team

Releasing the Team photo to the Indian media, the Head Coach Tim Mottin stated that “This is an exceptional opportunity for the Ringwood Lady Hawks to play a 5 series test against the National champions Kerala. India has such a potential of becoming a world strength in basketball with the development programs and initiatives like this, which will encourage more women to participate in this sport. My team and I look forward to the challenge in these games and particularly meeting all the supporters.”

Incidentally, it was Ringwood Hawks that had for the first time selected Geethu Anna Jose from Kerala to play for them during 2 seasons in 2006 and 2007 as a historic move in women’s basketball in India. Her exposure in the BigV League with the Ringwood Hawks proved a big boon in her career later.

“The Lady Hawks are incredibly excited to be touring India and playing against a great team like Kerala. One of the highlights for us will be the chance to visit some schools and promote Basketball. We know Indian Basketball is developing great players and we look forward to the challenge. We also hope the Indian public come along and support all five games as we cannot wait to meet as many people as we can.” Hawks Captain Danielle Bone added.
