DISTRICT BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION

Launched into action in 1956, Kozhikode District Basketball Association has been active ever since. It is Late. Prof P. P. Devassy, Principal, Physical Education College, Kozhikode, K. T. Madhavan Nambiar, Late. T. P. Antony, and C. P. Shreedharan who took the initiative to form the district association. Prof. K. A. Jaleel and Mr. K. T. Madhavan Nambiar became the first president and secretary, respectively. In the list of former presidents we have M/s K. A. Jaleel, S. V. Govindaswami, M. C. Pothen, Late. Dr. C. B. C. Warrier, Krishna Warrier, C. D. Nair, Adv. K. Vasudevan, Dr. C. K. Ramachandran and Prof. N. V. Ashokan.

In the list of former secretaries we have M/s K. T. Madhavan Nambiar, C. P. Shreedharan, Charles Susheel Kumar, Late. T. P. Antony, K. Ramdas, and Prof. N. V. Ashokan. Mr. C. P. Shreedharan and Mr. P. K. Gangadharan are the present president, secretary and treasurer, respectively.

The association is proud to have international and national players like Pramod Govind, V. O. Thomas, Asha Reeta, Vineeshya Simcock, Susan Philip, Sherly, Neena Prabhu, Ramany Pothen, Sheela Menon and Baby Ratnam.

The contributions of Late. Prof. P. P. Devassy and Late. Dr. C. B. C. Warrier ever remain green in our memories. We pay respectful homage to Late. Mr. Mumtas Ulhakh who started basketball training in Kozhikode.
